THIS WORKSHOP IS ONLY FOR CANCER PATIENTS AND FAMILIES

The Crucible inspires creative exploration and expression through welcoming, hands-on arts education and experiences for people of diverse ages and backgrounds. As an innovative hub built around the industrial arts, The Crucible is a catalyst for individual growth and vibrant community connections.

Youth workshops are usually three hours long in which participants create a small project that they take away with them. There are a minimum and maximum number of people that can do a workshop at one time, and some groups do multiple workshops over the course of a day. Below are descriptions of some of our youth workshops.

CLAY SCULPTURE. AGE 6 TO 11 (4-8 participants)

Students learn exciting techniques in working with clay. Projects in this area can include cups, bowls, trivets, masks or figures. Clay requires a minimum of 4 youth to run a workshop and can take up to 8 students.

WOODCARVING: 8 to 11 year olds (4-8 participants)

Participants will be introduced to the basic hand tools and their functions through hands-on demonstrations. Students are given expert guidance through every step of the carving process, from brainstorming to adding fine detail to creating a project of their own design.

Leatherworking: 12+ year olds (5-8 participants)

Participants will learn to cut, pierce, fold, stitch, and stain leather. Depending on the amount of time, cardholders, bracelets and even a wallet can be made.
